Abstract   (840 Views)
Aims: This study aimed to propose effective strategies to increase participation in sports activities in order to improve the health of veterans in Yazd City.
Instrument & Methods: This descriptive survey study was conducted in 2025 with a sample of 351 veterans residing in Yazd City, selected according to the Krejcie and Morgan sampling table. Data were collected quantitatively using a researcher-developed questionnaire, whose content validity was confirmed by 10 experts in sports management. The questionnaire demonstrated acceptable reliability with a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.79. Initially, factors influencing veterans’ sports participation for health improvement were identified through a qualitative approach. Subsequently, these factors were prioritized using the non-parametric Friedman test.
Findings: The most influential dimensions affecting veterans’ sports participation in Yazd were managerial and planning (mean rank=5.12, rank 1), followed by economic (mean rank=4.19, rank 2), and socio-cultural factors (mean rank=3.75, rank 3). The Friedman test confirmed that these differences across dimensions were statistically significant (χ²=284.536, N=351, df=4, p<0.05).
Conclusion: The sports participation of veterans in Yazd is primarily influenced by managerial and planning factors, followed by economic and then socio-cultural factors.
