Abstract   (206 Views)
Objectives: The study specifically sought to identify locally relevant cultural and social components through a qualitative phase, operationalize these components through a researcher-developed questionnaire, and subsequently test the proposed structural relationships through quantitative analysis.
Materials and Methods: An exploratory mixed-methods approach was employed. In the qualitative phase, 17 experts were purposively selected using the snowball method. Thematic analysis identified 27 core components (9 cultural, 18 social). In the quantitative phase, these components were operationalized through a researcher-developed questionnaire administered to 214 family members of veterans selected through stratified random sampling. Confirmatory factor analysis and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) were used.
Findings: The second-order SEM model indicated significant positive effects of social capital (β = 0.46) and cultural capital (β = 0.39) on reducing psychosocial threats. Cultural capital also exerted an indirect effect via social capital (β = 0.19). The final model explained 68% of the variance (R² = 0.68, adjusted R² = 0.66) and achieved good fit indices (χ²/df = 2.27, CFI = 0.93, TLI = 0.91, RMSEA = 0.045, SRMR = 0.048). Highest-ranked components were social trust (0.78), family support (0.76), participation in collective events (0.75), and intergenerational cultural transmission (0.75).
Conclusion: Strengthening indicators of both social and cultural capital can significantly mitigate psychosocial threats in veterans’ families. The findings indicate that a localized model can be developed by integrating culturally grounded resources with social support mechanisms and empirically testing their structural relationships. Localized policies and interventions, tailored to the cultural–social context, are essential for sustainable psychological well-being.
