Behavioral activation treatment is a short-term intervention that can target a range of disruptions to the disorder. The purpose of the present study was to investigate effectiveness of short-term behavioral activation therapy on the rumination and experimental avoidance of veterans with PTSD. Material & Methods: In this semi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design with control group, 40 veterans with PTSD who referred to Isar Ardabil psychiatric hospital in 2017 were selected through purposive sampling and randomaly assigned to two groups of experimental and control. The data were collected using a posttrumatic stress disorder checklist (military version), ruminal responses scale and acceptance and action questionnaire-II. Then, behavioral activation therapy were performed for 10 sessions (one hour in per session) for the experimental group. Data were analyzed by SPSS 23 using multiple covariance analysis. Finding: After controlling the effects of pretest, the mean scores of rumination (F=4.843; p= 0.035) and experiential avoidance (F=5.123; p= 0.030) were significantly higher in the experimental group than the control group. The statistical population consisted of 900 injured and chemical veterans in Kashan by random sampling method, of whom 270 were selected based on the sample size of the Cochran; they were evaluated, using the SERVQUAL questionnaire. Investigations were performed on the dimensions of tangibility (Physical facilities, appearance of the hospital, and the staff), reliability (Stability and precision in the work), accountability (Timely delivery, prompt response, and readiness for providing service for patient), assurance (Building trust and security in patients), and empathy (Understanding the needs of the patients and paying attention to them). Instruments & Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in 2015 among 1271 monocular veterans in 19 provinces of the country, who were selected by available sampling. The participants were divided into two groups: middle-aged (between 40 and 59 years) and elderly (60 years and older). The research tools were quality of life, activities of daily living (ADL), and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL). The data were analyzed by SPSS 23 software, using independent t-test and Mann-Whitney test. Findings: The mean age of the middle-aged and elderly veterans was 46.3±4.1 and 68.7±7.9 years, respectively. There was a significant difference in vitality (p=0.002), physical functioning (p<0.001) and limitation in role physical (p=0.003) between two groups .In ADL, in both groups, the least independence was related to transfer and mobility on uneven surfaces. The aim of the present research was to compare the resilience, self-differentiation, and health-promoting lifestyle in children of chemical warfare veterans, non-chemical warfare veterans, prisoners of war, and normal population. Instruments & Methods: This descriptive causal-comparative study was carried out on 259 children of the chemical warfare veterans, non-chemical warfare veterans, prisoners of war and normal population in Sardasht County in 2017-2018. The subjects were selected using purposive sampling method. Data collection tools consisted of the Conver and Davidson’s resiliency questionnaire, self-differentiation questionnaire of Friedland and Skowron, and health improvement lifestyle questionnaire of Volker et al. Data were analyzed through SPSS 23 software using the one-way analysis of variance, Tukey post hoc and multivariate analysis of variance test. Findings: The mean scores of resiliency, self-differentiation and health-promoting lifestyle were significantly different among the four groups and this difference was observed between the children of normal population with the children of the chemical warfare veterans, non-chemical warfare veterans and prisoners of war (p<0.05) and there was no significant difference between the other groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: The rate of resilience, self-differentiation, and health-promoting lifestyle in the children of normal population is higher than the other groups.   Keywords  [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/68055500];  [Not inMeSH];  [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/68006293];  [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/68008019]}, Keywords = {Resilience, Self-Differentiation, Health Promotion, Lifestyle}, volume = {11}, Number = {4}, pages = {215-222}, publisher = {Veterans Medical Sciences & Engineering Research Center}, doi = {10.29252/ijwph.11.4.215}, url = {http://ijwph.ir/article-1-810-en.html}, eprint = {http://ijwph.ir/article-1-810-en.pdf}, journal = {Iranian Journal of War and Public Health}, issn = {2008-2622}, eissn = {2008-2630}, year = {2019} } @article{ author = {Zanjari, N. and Namjoo, Sh. and Aminzadeh, D.M. and Delbari, A.}, title = {Relationship between Self-Efficacy and Depression among Family Caregivers of Chemical Warfare Elderly Veterans}, abstract ={  Aims: In the world, many elderly people are cared by informal caregivers. Caring for elderly people with a special condition such as veterans can affect the mental health of caregivers. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between self-efficacy and depression among the family caregivers of chemical warfare elderly veterans. Instruments & Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study carried out among 142 family caregivers of chemical warfare elderly veterans in Sardash in 2018. The subjects were selected using purposive sampling method. The data were collected through Center for Epidemiological Study of Depression Scale (CES-D) and Sherer’s General Self-Efficacy (GSES) and were analyzed by SPSS 21 software using Chi square, Pearson correlation, multiple linear regression, and logistic regression tests. Findings: The prevalence of depression among caregivers was 52.8%. The subjects in the age group of 41-50 years old, high economic status, born in the village and with self-efficacy had lower depression. Also, the dimension of “intention of behavior” had the highest effect on the change in the depression score. Moreover, caregivers who had higher self-efficacy (OR=0.918; CI=0.859-0.981) and higher age (OR=0.932; CI=0.875-0.993) were less depressed, and caregivers who had high economic status were less depressed (OR=0.267; CI=0.065-0.948).
