The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between social support and health promoting behaviors in chemical veteran in Ilam province 2012-13. Methods & Materials: This cross-sectional study was performed in the entire moderate and severs chemical veterans, who they were covered by the Department of Veterans and Martyrs of Ilam province. Information was collected by using standard questionnaires for health-promoting behavior and Multidimensional scale of perceived social support (family, friends, and important people). The reliability and validity of these instruments was desirable. Inclusion criteria were percentage of disability with moderate and sever levels and enough physical strength to answer questions, and exclusion criteria were also lack of cooperation and have no permanent residence in Ilam province. After data collection, all data were analyzed by SPSS statistical soft ware and Pearson correlation coefficient and linear regression. Results: All of 239 veterans indicated that all of them were men with mean and standard deviation age 51.17± 8.87 years and there is a significant relation between all subscales of social support and health-promotion behavior subscales (p<0.05). Among the subscales of social support, friend support had the highest correlation with health-promoting behaviors (r= 0.391), and support from important people showed the lowest correlation (r= 0.367). The all regression models of health promotion behavior and its subscales were significant. Conclusion: There is a relation between perceived social support especially friend support and health-promotion behaviors, therefore suggest that the friend as a resource support was used in design of educational programs.}, Keywords = { Health promoting behaviors, Social support, Chemical veterans, Ilam}, volume = {6}, Number = {1}, pages = {1-10}, publisher = {Veterans Medical Sciences & Engineering Research Center}, url = {http://ijwph.ir/article-1-328-en.html}, eprint = {http://ijwph.ir/article-1-328-en.pdf}, journal = {Iranian Journal of War and Public Health}, issn = {2008-2622}, eissn = {2008-2630}, year = {2014} } @article{ author = {Norasteh, A.A. and Zarandy, Z.}, title = {Bilateral proprioceptive changes in athlete and non-athlete amputees with unilateral below-knee amputation}, abstract ={Background & Purpose: The definitive loss of a body segment and its somatosensory afferents can profoundly affect the internal body representation, requiring adaptation to restore sensorimotor function. The purposes of the study were: (1) To compare knee proprioception of amputated leg of athlete amputees with non-athlete amputees,(2) To compare knee proprioception of sound leg with amputated leg in athleteand non-athlete amputees, and (3) To compare knee proprioception of amputated and sound leg of amputees with healthy men . Methods & Materials: 8 athlete amputees (46.38 2.77 year), 6 non-athlete amputees (47.8 6.06 year) and 8 healthy men (46.75 2.61) participated. Knee joint position sense evaluated through active repositioning (45˚ of knee flexion) using an electrogoniometer and force sense evaluated through reproduction of target force (50% of maximum isometric voluntary contraction) using a dynamometer. All data analyzed using t-test and One-way analysis of variance. Results: Non-athlete amputees had lessaccuracy in active repositioning than athlete amputees and control group in amputated leg (p<0.05). There is no significant difference between non-athlete and athlete amputees in absolute error of force reproduction in both feet and also there is no significant difference between sound leg and amputated leg in both groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest exercise can improve joint position sense in amputees. No significant difference in proprioception of sound and amputated leg neither athlete amputees nor non-athlete amputees could be due to reorganization of the motor and sensory cortex after amputation. It is recommended more investigation on the subject according to the importance of proprioception in motor control and gait of amputees and differences in properioception and force sense results. The aim of this study was to measure quality of life in patients with fibromyalgia syndrome that referred to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation clinic in Baqiyatallah Hospital. Methods & Materials: Patients that referred to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic by a trained physician were asked about diffuse chronic pain, fatigue, sleep disturbance, age, body mass index, level of education and number of children. To assess quality of life, 36-SF questionnaire was used. Also to assess pain, Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was used. The same physician did a thorough physical examination with special attention to the tender points in order to diagnose fibromyalgia according to the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria. Results: In the study of 59 patients referred to the Baqiyatallah hospital, the findings showed that there was statistically significant relationship between quality of life and pain (p=0.002), age (p=0.01), body mass index (p=0.04) and morning stiffness (p=0.001). However, there is no statistically significant relationship between level of education and quality of life (p=0.09). Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the validity and reliability of achievement goal questionnaire. Methods & Materials: The statistical population of this study was the veterans and the disables athlete of Khorasan-e Razavi province (N=700) of which 210 samples were selected randomly as the sample. Measurement Instrument was a questionnaire of 12 questions of achievement goal (Sean et al, 2008) included 2 subscales (mastery and ego). The pointing method of questions was based on Likert range five options (wrong completely=1 to True completely=5). Face and content validity of questionnaire was accepted after translation by professors sport management specialists. In order to analyze the data, Cronbach`s alpha for determining reliability, Confirmatory factor analysis to determine the validity and T one-sample test in order to examine differences of the averages the software SPSS and EQS was used. Results: Analytical results showed (α=0.82) reliability for achievement goal questionnaire. All questions had a significant relationship with their agent in reliability of Structure, the amount of relationship and T-value, and they could be a good predictor for their agent. X2/df=2.75, RMSEA=0.068 indexes and RMR=0.001, CFI=0.96, GFI=0.99 confirmed the goodness of models. Also, the results about the relations of factors with the meaning of achievement goal showed that all factors could be a good predictor for the concept of achievement goal.
